The Two Towers
Author: J.R.R. Tolkien

The second part of the Lord of the Rings. The goal of the Fellowship of the Ring is to get the Ruling Ring to the Cracks of Doom so they can destroy it before it falls into the hands of the Dark Lord. Merry and Pippen had an adventure with first the orcs, then the Ents and finally with Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and a reunited Gandalf. Gandalf takes power away from Saruman when they all reach Isengard and then let the Ents do their business there while they all head to Minas Tirith. Frodo and Sam head to Mordor with Gollum in tow. It ends with Gollum betraying the hobbits and Frodo being captured by the orcs after Sam fears he was dead.

When I was reading it, I didn’t mind that it didn’t start out with Frodo and Sam, but followed the others. The search for Merry and Pippin, finding Gandalf, the big ole fight at Helm’s Deep and Gandalf casting Saraman aside. heehee. Then when Pippin looks into the stone thingie and Gandalf takes him on his horse to head to Minas Tirith before anyone else, it stops. agggg!

While I was reading about Frodo and Sam, it was interesting enough, but I really wanted to know what was going to happen with the others. Then the whole Shelob’s Lair happened. Ack! Freaking ugly spider. But that was exciting to read, and then Sam thinks Frodo is dead, then he is not, and then orcs take him. Yeah run-on!

Finally, I loved the Ents. They were so slow and amusing. I liked it when they got angry.
