Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

No Linda Hamilton or drunk Edward Furlong. Nick Stahl is in Furlong’s place as the new future leader of the world who must combat a girlie terminator that can flip her legs around to strangle you with them. Fancy.

I enjoyed it. It was total summer fluff action movie. It also had an awesome car chase scene. Car chase scenes bore me, but this one featured a huge crane truck thing barreling down the road, destroying everything in its path. It was awesome.

Also, Arnold did have great one-liners. I was just laughing everytime he opened his mouth. I thought the ending was kinda dumb, but well, I guess it made sense.

Spirited Away

When a 10-year-old girl moves into a new neighborhood, she finds herself in another world filled with witches and monsters.

This won an Oscar for best animated film of the year. It’s anime and for those that know, I hate anime. Yet, I still watched it because it was supposed to be so good.

It was only slightly annoying in parts where the girl would scream entire sentences at the top of her lungs, but that only happened twice. Other than that, it was a lot less annoying than most anime that I’ve had to sit through.

It’s an interesting story and the creatures are beyond weird. That’s why I liked it. Especially No-Face, the mouse and the little bird that flew the mouse around. There were some spirit animal things that would wear sumo wrestler loin cloths and well….they really should have been wearing more. There was a lot of butt crack going on in this movie.

Even with the butt cracks, it was still very enjoyable and I recommend it.

Matrix Revolutions

Hello Mr. Anderson, my machines friends and I have come to invade your little world. Good times!

I didn’t see this movie in the theater since I was quite disappointed with the second one. I waited until it came out on Netflix. I’m glad I did.

It was almost nice to wrap up the storyline, but actually I really didn’t care anymore. I didn’t care about machines taking over or about any of the characters. The same characters that I liked in the first movie just bugged me in this one. They were all so very serious. It would have been nice if someone had some fun.

This one didn’t really have any cool fight scenes either. There were no twins. It was very sad. There was another “many Agent Smiths attacking Neo” fight, but that already happened in the second movie. Why did we need to see it again? How he defeats him doesn’t make any sense in the same way how he finally defeats him in the second one doesn’t make any sense. It is like if we watch a fight long enough, we’ll just forget how Neo is going to get out of it, or Neo wins and we are just glad when it is finally over.

I remember thinking the fight scenes were so awesome in the first movie, but nothing was outstanding in this film. While other filmmakers are moving on and making entertaining fight scenes, the Wachowski Brothers are just repeating what they did in the first one. I don’t think I ever need to see this movie again. I don’t mind watch various parts of the second one, but there weren’t any parts of this movie that left an impression on me. Overall, it was very boring.

Hotel World

Hotel World
Author: Ali Smith

Five women’s lives become interconnected in a hotel somewhere in England. One of the women just happens to be a ghost of a women who died in the hotel’s dumb waiter. It is written in a stream-of-consciousness style that takes some getting used to, but if you can get past that, you can enjoy it since it is just like you would think if you wrote down your own thoughts.

The book is dumb and boring. It starts off great though. The first chapter is the ghost of the girl that just died in the dumb waiter. Her memory is fading along with her senses. She is forgetting what it is like to taste and smell as those go away. She is trying to remember who she is and how she died and why. It was very interesting and the book should have stuck with that.

Then the next chapter talks about a homeless girl that sits right outside the hotel everyday. It barely goes into who she is before the next chapter which is slightly more interesting about a girl that works at the front counter of the hotel. The stories start interconnecting there and I had more hope for the book.

The fourth chapter was okay and more of the characters start talking to each other. It was about a hotel guest but then it starts veering off somewhere not interesting.

The fifth chapter is the sister of the dead girl and the entire chapter is all one sentence. Page and pages of a big run-on with & symbols separating the thoughts…kinda. It is so hard to follow and when I was following it, it wasn’t interesting. I thought maybe the last chapter would bring it all together. I had already lost interest.

It was lame last chapter that didn’t talk about any of the characters anymore, but a bunch of stuff about people being connected to one another and blah blah blah.

I don’t recommend this book. It starts off great and then goes pbbbbbbbbt.

Choke

Choke
Author: Chuck Palahniuk

I’m stealing what is on the back of the book because it really says it all: “Victor Mancini, a medical school dropout, is an antihero for our deranged times. Needing to pay elder care for his mother, Victor has devised an ingenious scam: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be “saved” by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor’s life, go on to send checks to support him. When he’s not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial them park.”

It also has a very cool beginning: “If you’re going to read this, don’t bother. After a couple pages, you won’t want to be here. So forget it. Go away. Get out while you’re still in one piece. Save yourself.” Good stuff!

This book was awesome. This is by the guy that wrote Fight Club. I haven’t ever read anything from him before, but thought I would try this book first. Now I’ll have to read his other stuff.

It is extremely funny in a sick and twisted sort of way. It’s gross and explicit. The main character isn’t someone that you would necessarily like if you met him in person, but he’s entertaining to read about. I’d recommend this but only if you like sick and twisted books. If you don’t then, you’d probably hate this. Also if you didn’t like Fight Club, you don’t like sick and twisted stuff. ;)

28 Days Later

28 Days Later

Directed: Danny Boyle
Starring: Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris

A guy wakes up from a coma to find everyone has turned into zombies. Nuts!

It's from the director of Trainspotting, but you can actually understand what the people are saying in this movie. Their accents aren't so thick. It was filmed in digital film so it looks grainy, but it fits the movie.

People have been infected and turned into rage machines or zombie-like creatures, but a tad more intelligent than your standard run-of-the-mill zombies. They do make awesome noises when they run around though.

It was scary, funny and tense. I really don't like tense movies, but it was tense in a good way. I hate movies where it is tense because the main character is being so incredibly stupid that you can't believe they are still in the situation because there are so many ways out of it. This wasn't one of those movies since it was out of their control.

It was a pretty good horror flick. Fun popcorn movie.

A courier decides to check out what he is delivering. That’s a definite no-no.

The movie is written by Luc Besson, who also wrote La Femme Nikita and The Professional. It stars the bald buy from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. If you like those movies, you’ll probably enjoy this one. Those movies are better than this one, but this is a fun summer movie.

There are car chases and fight scenes that are entertaining to watch. No major real big plot points going on here but it’s a fun movie.

About Schmidt

From the director of Election comes this movie about Jack Nicholson finally playing someone his own age. His wife dies and he realizes how little he has done with his life.

This isn’t your typical Jack Nicholson movie, which is what disappointed my dad. He thought it was going to be a lot funnier. It is very subtle humor. If you liked Election, you should like this movie. It’s the same kind of humor. I really enjoyed it.

Everything that he thought was important about his life turns out not to be seen that way by others. He finally realizes that. One thing that helps him get through is Ndugu, the child he sponsors from Tanzania from one of the Sally Strothers “Save the Children” commercials. The letters he writes to him are hilarious.

After having her life saved by a stranger, a nurse just can’t make herself go back to her old life.

This is the second movie by the director of Run Lola Run. It also stars Lola from that movie, but her hair isn’t bright red. It’s blonde here. She plays Sissi, a nurse at a mental hospital who is involved in an accident. Bodo saves her life and after that she feels the need to get to know him. She can’t go back to her old job and her old life.

It’s a very slow moving movie, but in a good way. It is really nothing like Run Lola Run except the music is great in this movie as well. It’s similar to Run Lola Run music, but slower-paced. Even with it moving so slow, you don’t get bored. It’s an odd movie, but it pulls you in. You really want to get to know these two characters and I really liked the ending. It was nice and weird.

P.S. This is a German movie so it has subtitles and all that stuff.

James Bond running around with Halle Berry.

I haven't watched the last couple James Bond movies because even though I think Pierce Brosnan makes a good James Bond, they have bored me. This one was pretty good though and I think it had to do with Halle Berry. Her character was actually interesting instead of other boring people in other ones.

This might be Pierce's last Bond movie though and there are rumors about Ewan McGregor or Jude Law doing it next. You all know who I would vote for but either one would be just fine indeedy.

I did fall asleep a few times but I was very tired that day and I needed a nap anyway. I took it during this movie!
