TV: Week of Jan 6
It is mid season replacement time. Most of these shows would be airing around now, even if the writer’s strike didn’t happen. They just might have more time to see if they are successful since most of the fall shows don’t have any more new shows to air in their place.
Recommended Shows

Medium
Channel: NBC
Time: 10/9c
Premieres: Monday, Jan 7
Trailer
Synopsis: At the end of last season, Alison’s secret came out. She lost her job with the D.A., the D.A. is shamed and Det. Scanlon is feeling the wrath of working with a psychic on former cases. Joe left his job at the end of last season after a terrifying hostage situation at work, so they are both out of work with three kids to feed. Angelica Huston joins the show for a few episodes as a private investigator willing to work with Allison since she continues to have visions, whether she has a job or not.
My Take: When the show started to become predictable last season, it poked fun at itself and then started to drift off in less predictable areas. I’m interested in what direction it will take now that everything has been turned upside for her professionally and personally. I have also enjoyed the family dynamic on the show. It is the most realistic family I have seen on television and I don’t even mind the kids!

Monk
Channel: USA
Time: 9 E/P
Premieres: Friday, Jan 11
Trailer
Synopsis: Monk continues to do more of the same, solving crimes while being afraid of everything.
My Take: The show does get repetitive and at times, I swear I’m going to quit watching since I find it annoying, but then it draws me back in.

Psych
Channel: USA
Time: 10 E/P
Premieres: Friday, Jan 11
Trailer
Synopsis: Shawn continues to solve crimes as a “psychic” along with his good buddy Gus.
My Take: These guys get more hilarious as time goes on. I love Gus being annoyed by Shawn.
Willing To Try

Cashmere Mafia
Channel: ABC
Time: 10/9c
Premieres: Sunday, Jan 6 (regular night Wed)
Trailer
Synopsis: One of two similar shows from Sex and the City people. This one comes from producer Darren Star about four career-driven, intelligent women that deal with their marriages, kids, work and everything else in their lives by discussing it together.
My Take: I’m going to check both shows out since I loved Sex and the City. We’ll see if I keep watching both or neither.
Why?

American Gladiators
Channel: NBC
Time: 9/8c
Premieres: Sunday, Jan 6 (regular night Mon 8/7c)
Trailer
Synopsis: The late ’80s to early ’90s competition show returns with all new gladiators, updated challenges, and a bunch of crazy people competing against them.
My Take: When the show was originally on, I’d watch it if nothing else was on, but I really didn’t have the desire to see it return. We did watch tons of reruns while we were at Walt Disney World resting in between parks, but we mostly made fun of it while watching it.

Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann
Channel: ABC
Time: 8/7c
Premieres: Monday, Jan 7
Trailer
Synopsis: Judges from Dancing with the Stars will be putting together amateur teams, with performers who can sing and dance, and compete against each other to find the ultimate performance group.
My Take: Even though I had enough with the dancing shows before they even started, America seems to love them. This show will probably do great, but then again, it doesn’t have D-list celebrities falling down so maybe not.

One Tree Hill
Channel: CW
Time: 8/7c
Premieres: Tuesday, Jan 8
Trailer
Synopsis: To get away from the high school story lines and move them into adulthood faster, the show has come back four years later where one of them has her first apartment that no one just out of college would be able to afford.
My Take: I’m shocked when I see it on the tv schedule each season. Who is watching it? I don’t think trying to start fresh with this show is going to make it any less stupid.

I will be watching Medium, Monk and Psych - loved them all before, hope they keep awesome! I am also glad that Medium is going into a bit of a different direction, I agree with Coni that it is a family on TV that actually doesn’t annoy me.
I am still behind with other new shows so I won’t be checking out Cashmere Mafia or the other one right away, if they sound really good I might try to catch up on them later.
