I love Pixar. I fell out of love with Disney movies a while ago. Even though I love the old school ones, the newer ones have too many sappy songs and the storylines are pretty much the same. Pixar makes heartwarming, cute movies and they just happened to be owned by the Disney company.

Wall-E is adorable, but he wasn’t overly cute. Combing through trash before he compacts it, he finds “treasures” that he decorates his little unit that could be called his home. He is lonely for some companionship, especially the thought of holding hands with a girl. When another robot shows up on Earth, he falls in love with her right away. I love that she was violent and angry at first, but Wall-E grew on her, like he grew on other robots and humans later on.

The storyline about all the humans taking a cruise in space until Earth can get cleaned up was hilarious. I was on board when I heard that they didn’t have to walk anywhere, but of course seeing all the humans as fat bloats many years after not walking made you want to stop eating your popcorn and go exercise.

I have read some complaints about how the movie was pushing an environmental message, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. I really thought it was a message for adults and it would go right over any kids’ heads. I found a lot of hope in it where the humans wanted to go back to Earth and make it livable again.
