The wide releases came out on Wednesday while the limited releases came out on Friday. Johnny Depp and Christian Bale appear to be the only thing worth seeing this week.
Nationwide Releases
Public Enemies
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Public Enemies
Directed: Michael Mann
Starring: Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Jason Clarke, Rory Cochran
Trailer
Synopsis: Johnny Depp is John Dilinger with Christian Bale playing the FBI guy chasing him.
My Take: It has Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in it. Why wouldn’t I want to watch it?
RT Score: 65%
RT Consensus: Michael Mann’s latest is a competent and technically impressive gangster flick with charismatic lead performances, but some may find the film lacks truly compelling drama.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Directed: Carlos Saldanha
Starring: Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah
Trailer
Synopsis: The creatures find a lost world of dinosaurs.
My Take: I didn’t remember the second one coming out, so thought this was a sequel but apparently it is the third in the series. I guess it didn’t make so much of an impact on me.
RT Score: 46%
RT Consensus: The third Ice Age film has some excellent animation, but its story is tired and monotonous.
Limited Releases
Girl From Monaco
Local Color
I Hate Valentine’s Day

Girl From Monaco
Directed: Anne Fontaine
Starring: Fabrice Luchini, Roschdy Zem, Louise Bourgoin
Trailer
Synopsis: A judge in Monaco is on a huge trial when he is distracted by a pretty, young blonde thing.
My Take: The girl falling for the older guy is not believable, unless she’s playing him for something.
RT Score: 44%

Local Color
Directed: George Gallo
Starring: Armin Mueller-Stahl, Trevor Morgan, Samantha Mathis, Ray Liotta, Charles Durning
Trailer
Synopsis: A painter remembers when he was a kid in 1974 and taking lessons from a famous Russian painter.
My Take: The music in the trailer seemed to be evoking more emotion than the actual story itself.
RT Score: 40%

I Hate Valentine’s Day
Directed: Nia Vardalos
Starring: Nia Vardalos, John Corbett
Trailer
Synopsis: A woman tries to avoid getting hurt by only having five dates with someone and moving on, until one guy turns out to be more wonderful than she imagined.
My Take: I find Nia Vardalos extremely unappealing.
RT Score: 11%
