Drag Me To Hell

Christine has a boring job at a bank as a loan officer. She really wants a promotion to assistant manager, but her boss is being a jerk. Even though she has experience, he threatens to promote new guy, Stu, because he’s aggressive even though he doesn’t know everything yet since Christine still has to train him. Christine has a great boyfriend who likes her, even though she used to live on a farm, which apparently is the worst thing in the world according to his rich mother. She has to deal with many headaches in her day-to-day life before a gypsy woman makes it even worse.

Christine decides to prove she can make the “tough decisions” her boss says she needs to make in order to prove she can handle the assistant manager job by denying a gross old lady a third extension on her mortgage payments. The gross old lady begs and then puts a curse on Christine when she calls security on the old woman.

That’s when things really start getting disgusting. The old woman attacks Christine later on and then other crazy things attack Christine sent by the old woman. When the curse stuff starts is when all the good Sam Raimi stuff starts happening. If you had seen any of his Evil Dead movies, you would know that he loves bodily fluids and tons of it. This movie doesn’t have any blood that I remember, but there was an excess of other fluids that are so very disgusting.

When I saw the trailer for this movie, I didn’t think it looked very interesting, but I do love the Evil Dead movies. I love the combination of horror and camp. This movie does lack Bruce Campbell and his awesome one-liners, which is sad, but the rest of fun is present. What Raimi would do is scare the crap out of the audience and then have them laughing at the outrageous grossness. It is a winning combination. It was a fantastically campy time.
