TV: Week of September 21

Category: TV,Upcomingvelveetahead @ 5:10 pm

Fall TV Season is upon us. Even though quite a few shows got an early start this month, this week is the official season premiere week. Beware, this post will be huge!

Season Finales: Top Gear, Warehouse 13

Pick of the Week

dexter

Dexter
Channel: SHO
Time: 9/8c
Starring: Michael C. Hall, Julie Benz, Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Velez, David Zayas, James Remar
Premieres: Sunday, September 27
Trailer

Synopsis: Dexter got married and found out he had a kid on the way. Can a serial killer really have the perfect life? This season also stars a very successful serial killer for Dexter to admire, played by John Lithgow.

My Take: I keep wondering how long the show can last before it’ll burn itself out since he can’t keep killing forever, can he? But I’ll continue to watch it as it continues to be so very excellent.

Recommended

howimetyourmother

How I Met Your Mother

Trailer

Synopsis: Barney finally declared his feelings for Robin. Will they actually try to be in a relationship with one another? Ted starts a new job as a professor and the mother is supposed to be in his class.

My Take: Neil Patrick Harris didn’t win an Emmy, but he’s one of the main reasons to watch the show. The rest of the cast has a great chemistry too. It is a show that can finally fill the void that Friends left.

Premieres: Monday, September 21
Trailer

Synopsis: House sent himself to a mental hospital due to his addiction to Vicodin. Will he actually get off the drug? Will his personality change?

My Take: Even with the predictable weird case of the week, I love the show. It’s all due to Hugh Laurie who makes you love the super mean House, no matter what he does.

My Take: The show keeps saying it got too far away from its roots each season beyond the first one. Will this finally be the year that they get back to what made it so interesting in the first place?

castle

Castle

Trailer

Synopsis: Last season Tony shot Ziva’s Mossad-agent boyfriend and Gibbs downsized Ziva while they were in Israel. This season they will be searching for a new agent, but will Ziva be gone for good?

Channel: CBS
Time: 10/9c
Starring: Gary Sinise, Melina Kanakaredes, Carmine Giovinazzo, Anna Belknap, Eddie Cahill, Hill Harper, A.J. Buckley, Robert Joy
Premieres: Wednesday, September 23
Trailer

Synopsis: The team is trying to deal with losing one of their own at the end of last season.

My Take: The show has improved so much since it started, focusing more on the city it is supposed to be taking place in instead of just generic CSI story lines taking place in generic city.

Trailer

Synopsis: Sara Sidle is supposed to be back for a few episodes, but I hope she leaves soon since I didn’t miss her. Catherine promotes Nick and Ray quits wearing suits all the time.

Premieres: Thursday, September 24
Trailer

Synopsis: Another team is brought on to track Red John since it seems Jane’s thinking is too clouded and can’t properly track the killer of his wife and children.

My Take: Simon Baker’s charm is what makes me keep watching since the story lines are not all that exciting.

smallville

Smallville
Channel: CW
Time: 8/7c
Starring: Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Allison Mack, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman, Callum Blue
Premieres: Friday, September 25
Trailer

Synopsis: Clark gets one step closer to becoming Superman and Lois starts to like Clark, but still has a thing for that unknown hero she knows is around somewhere. Also, Zod shows up to cause havoc.

My Take: The show really didn’t get going until half way through it, but was fantastic after that. I’m so glad it was renewed and hope it keeps going down that path.

medium

Medium
Channel: CBS
Time: 9/8c
Starring: Patricia Arquette, Jake Weber
Premieres: Friday, September 25
Trailer

Synopsis: Allison ended the season in a coma and might come out of it with her visions gone.
