Amazing Race: Stealing Taxis

Amazing Race
We’re Not Working With Anybody, Ever, Anymore!

I am shocked that IR Couple have made it to the final four. I really thought they were out a while ago when Ericka got stuck counting the bells forever. Then when they didn’t ride the bicycles on another leg of the race. They they continued on due to others making worse mistakes, which is amazing.

The teams left the pit stop in the following order:

  1. Meghan & Cheyne – Tetherball – 12 am
  2. Sam & Dan – Gay Brothers – 12:19 am
  3. Flight Time & Big Easy – Globetrotters – 12:20 am
  4. Brian & Ericka – IR Couple – 12:22 am

Clue: Teams flew to Prague. Once there, they had to locate the Old Town Square and find an old man in a vintage Praga, which is a Czech convertible.

Sam was excited when he read where they were headed. Dan asked if they spoke Spanish. Eh? Sam said no, that Prague was a country. Eh? Everyone arrived at the airport around the same time and found the flight that would get them to Prague. While waiting for the ticket counter to open, Tetherball did some research online to figure out a vintage Praga was an old car. Meghan said they should tell everyone that they looked it up and it was a black hat or something. Their plan was ruined when the Globetrotters were looking it up themselves too, so I don’t think they bothered to tell the other two teams their dumb lie.

Prague, Czech Republic

All the teams except IR Couple jumped into taxis when they got off the airplane. Brian was told by someone on the plane that it was the fastest way to get to the old city center was to take the subway, so they were taking a shuttle bus to the subway and hoping it would get them there faster. It did not seem to work since Tetherball found a taxi first and arrived in the old town square first. They saw the old car and got their clue.

oldcar

Clue: Teams had to make their way to an outdoor adventure center, Kayaky Troja and search for their next clue.

The brothers got out of a cab right behind them and saw them running to the car, which was too bad since they were asking their taxi driver if a Praga was a hat or a jacket, while their driver was just looking at them strangely in response.  While those two teams headed to the next location, IR Couple were,  ironically, stuck in traffic in a tunnel. The subway just seemed to be a light rail system that did not have dedicated tracks so it got stuck in traffic like cars. The Globetrotters arrived and left the square before IR Couple arrived. They figured they might be the last team so they got off the train and jumped in a taxi.

Rope Walking

Tetherball and the brothers arrived at the kayak place at the same time and found a detour clue.

Detour: In Fast and Furious, teams would have to go down a man-made white-water course that was used to train professional kayakers. When they got to the end of the rapids, they had to grab a ribbon that had their next clue on it. If they tipped over before reaching the clue, they would have to go through the rapids again until they succeeded. In Slow and Steady, teams had to pull themselves through an aerial rope course. When they reached the end, they would receive their next clue.

The brothers decided to go with the kayaks. Sam said that even if it took them a couple times of doing it, they could get through it faster. Meghan wasn’t sure about the kayaks so Tetherball decided to do the slow task. The Globetrotters arrived. They decided to do the ropes too. IR Couple showed up at the square, but didn’t know what a Praga was so they were just wandering around looking for anything that might have a clue.

At the detour, the brothers had changed into wet suits and were taking off in their kayaks at the same time Tetherball was starting their rope course. The Globetrotters took off on another set of ropes. The brothers were yelling at each other constantly that the other one was doing it wrong. At the square, IR couple finally found the car and were headed to the detour.

At the detour, the brothers flipped over and had to start over again. At that point, the other teams were about halfway across the ropes and were slowly making their way up. Big Easy was having problems since his feet were dragging in the water due to his weight. The brothers had a plan for their second attempt so they would each only paddle on one side of the kayak instead of switching. Sam was supposed to be guiding the kayak from the back, but he was having trouble. Dan was screaming at him and then they flipped over again. Flight Time passed Tetherball and made it to the end first. Tetherball made it next and then Flight had to wait for Big Easy to be done.  Only one person could go down at a time and Flight Time  had started to go down first. He was going down slowly to block Tetherball from getting passed him because he couldn’t go anywhere until Big Easy was done.

The brothers started their third attempt, this time with Dan in the back, who kept blaming Sam for turning them around three times in the previous attempt. Tetherball finally got down and took off while Big Easy was finally finishing up the rope. Tetherball read their ribbons, which had two words on it in Czech that referred to the Estates Theater where they would search for their next clue. Big Easy finished and they took off. The brothers flipped over again. The IR Couple arrived at the detour. The brothers had decided to switch detours. They were exhausted from kayaking so I don’t know how they were going to be able to do the ropes. IR Couple decided to do the ropes.

Tetherball and Globetrotters were asking locals what the words on the ribbons meant. Tetherball found out it meant a theater. Then for some reason Meghan told the Globetrotters to come with them since they knew where to go. They were going to a tram. Dan was much faster at the rope compared to Sam. They started before IR Couple and Dan was about halfway across when the other team got going. Tetherball and Globetrotters found a tram stop, but then Cheyne saw a taxi so he flagged it down. Meghan wanted to take the tram for some reason and told him that he was being rude when he told her to come on and get in the taxi. They took off in it when it was about a 15 minute drive, leaving the Globetrotters at the tram waiting 10 minutes for the next train.

Back at the ropes, Brian caught up to Sam. Ericka was very far behind. Dan was almost done. Tetherball arrived at the theater and found the clue box, which was a road block.

Opera Search

Road Block: A team member had to go into the Estates Theater and search among hundreds of opera seats for a tiny mandolin. Once they found it, they had to bring it on stage to the guy singing and he would give them their next clue.

Cheyne decided to do it. He said he was going to search the ground floor last so he went up to the second floor. There were like four or five floors. In one room, he found an instrument, but it wasn’t very tiny. He brought it on stage where the guy laughed and said no. He went back to searching. The Globetrotters got off the tram and jumped on the subway. At the detour, Dan finally finished and Sam was close behind him. Brian was almost done and then just had to wait for Ericka to finish. The Globetrotters arrived at the theater and Big Easy wanted to do it. Cheyne kept picking up various big instruments. I have no idea why. Big Easy started looking on the ground floor.

The brothers ran into the taxi that IR Couple asked to wait for them. Dan offered to pay the guy more to take it. Sam didn’t want to do it. Brian told Ericka, to give her some extra motivation to finish, the guys were trying to steal their taxi. That just made her stop and start yelling at them. The taxi guy went for it and left the IR Couple without a taxi when they finally finished. The search was still on at the opera house with no luck when Ericka finally finished at the ropes.

The brothers  arrived at the opera house. Dan decided to do it. IR Couple borrowed a phone from a local to call a taxi. The local also told them it was a theater. Flight Time started dancing around on stage while he was waiting for someone to find the tiny instrument. Dan found a violin and brought it down to the stage. The guy laughed and said no. IR Couple got their cab and headed to the theater. Big Easy found a coin purse and brought it on stage to be laughed at. He also found a tiny case for a mandolin, but nothing was in it so he was laughed at him again. Cheyne finally found a tiny case with a tiny mandolin in it. They got the next clue.

Clue: Teams had to make their way to the next pit stop, Prague Castle, by taxi.

Dan was crawling on the ground looking under seats while Big Easy was down at the other end of the same row. Dan found a tiny mandolin first. Then Dan had to figure out how to get back down on the stage. IR Couple arrived at the theater and Brian picked Ericka to do it. The brothers were leaving right when IR Couple started looking. They were also avoided eye contact after stealing the cab.

Pit Stop

Tetherball got to the castle and started following various route marker signs to find Phil. They were in first place. They won a trip to Hawaii.

Back outside the theater, the brothers couldn’t find a taxi to take them to the pit stop. In the theater, Big Easy was scooting along the floor while Ericka said she shouldn’t have to look under every single chair to find it. It was “redonkulous.” Big Easy finally found one and got the next clue. The brothers still hadn’t found a cab. They got one at the same time as the Globetrotters. They both arrived at the castle and were trying to follow the arrows to get to Phil. The brothers got to him first and checked in with him in second place. The Globetrotters got there right after for third place.

Back at the theater, Ericka was still searching and finally found it stuck to the bottom of a chair. They got to the castle and checked in with Phil in last place. He told them it was a non-elimination leg though. They would have the deal with the Speed Bump in the next leg.

The order the teams arrived at the pit stop:

  1. Meghan & Cheyne – Tetherball
  2. Sam & Dan – Brothers
  3. Flight Time & Big Easy – Globetrotters
  4. Brian & Ericka – IR Couple

Questions

  1. What was up with IR Couple’s bad luck with transportation with the subway being stuck in traffic to the brothers stealing their cabs?
  2. Do you think Cheyne was rude when he ran to get a taxi instead of staying with the Globetrotters at the tram station?
  3. Do you think Flight Time was rude when he went down the ladder slowly so Tetherball couldn’t leave the rope task right away?
