TV: Week of August 21

Tonight on Showtime, there is a documentary about Kings of Leon’s rise to fame. It was made before they had recent troubles like pigeons pooping on them and the lead singer having issues that led to the band canceling tons of summer tour dates. Later on this week, Doctor Who comes back for the remainder of its sixth season with an episode about trying to kill Hitler.

My Take: This spin-off from Top Chef has more drama than any of them, which might make it the most fun to watch.

True Blood: Witch Fight Tonight

Right from the credits, I knew it would be a good episode since it was written by Alan Ball. It was not as awesome as the third season episode where the King of Mississippi killed the news anchor on air, but it did have some pretty hilarious lines throughout the show.

TV: Week of August 14

BBC America has Law & Order: UK returning along with a new show called The Hour. He doesn’t seem to be a major character but at least a minor character in the show is Owen from Torchwood. ABC Family has a show that sounds very similar to the CW show, Ringer, starting this fall with Sarah Michelle Geller. I think I’ll wait and watch the version with Buffy.

FOX 2011 Fall Schedule

FOX had quite a few shows that were on the bubble at the end of the season. Then in May, FOX canceled all of them in one fell swoop. Low-rated midseason shows were gone like The Chicago Code, The Good Guys, Breaking In and Traffic Light. There is a slight bit of hope for Breaking In. After its cancellation was announced, it had the best ratings of its run and better ratings than a show that did get renewed, Raising Hope. Just recently, FOX did say they may decide to pick it back up for a midseason replacement, but they won’t decide that until later this fall.
