I ignored Happy Endings for the first season, but saved up the episodes meaning to give it a try. I’m glad I did since this show is hilarious. There is finally a worthy successor to Friends. On tonight’s episode, Dave’s food truck becomes the trendy hot spot in town thanks to its new liquor license, but Dave’s upset because his friends have stopped coming around. He thinks it’s because they’re jealous of his newfound fame, but the real reason is that his new signature drink is leaving them with erotic dreams in which he’s the star. Colin Hanks costars as himself.

TV Tonight: Tue., Feb. 28, 2012

Tonight is the season finale of Parenthood. If NBC wasn’t doing so badly in the ratings overall, this show would be a victim of not-great ratings, but since it does fairly well with certain demographics it should be getting renewed for next year. On tonight’s episode, the family gathers to celebrate a big event in the Season 3 finale; Julia and Joel try to recover from the stress of the adoption process; Crosby and Adam make a decision about the Luncheonette; and Sarah comes to a conclusion about her future.

Amazing Race: Chupacabra?

At the beginning of the episode, I tried to call it that Kentucky would not last long in the game since the one guy was missing a lot of teeth and the other one gets car sick. Boy was I wrong! They would have come in first place if one of them hadn’t doubted himself on the road block. I’ll just shut up now about Kentucky and check out the chupacabra that was hanging out in the desert.

If you have given Smash a try and thought it started out well, but went downhill fast, then try this week’s episode before giving up. Critics that were given the first four episodes at once said that the third episode was the worst of the bunch and it improves greatly this week. On tonight’s episode, Derek hosts a party for a popular young star, reminding Karen she must propel her career. Meanwhile, Eileen tests a crafty way to secure funds; and Tom dates someone new.

I usually watch The Oscars, but this year the Best Movie list is ridiculous. I usually want to see the movies on the list, but they don’t interest me at all. I think I’m going to skip the awards since I just don’t care who wins. There isn’t much else that is on that is new tonight, but I’ll be watching something else instead.

Pick of the Week

Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter is in a new NBC series debuting this week. I thought it was the best sounding new show of all the shows that debuted last Fall, but we had to wait until this week for it to debut. A detective is in a car crash with his wife and son. His wife survives in one reality, but when he goes asleep, he wakes up to another reality where only his son survived. He doesn’t know which one is a dream or if they are both dreams and he’s making it all up.

Amazing Race: Lies & Blindness

While we were introduced to the teams on the race, the golf twin sisters stated that people were going to underestimate them, which is what half the all girl teams say when they come on the Amazing Race. They also said there would be no crying. Well, when they became blind while trying to find Phil, even though he was right in front of them, they started to cry when they realized their stupidity. Thus, leading to an episode of lies and blindness.

It was recently officially announced that this will be the final season of House. I think after the mess the show became at the end of last season, I’m glad that it is finally ending. Tonight, a hospitalized marriage counselor shows behavior that contradicts his motivational message on gender roles. Meanwhile, House and his green-card Ukrainian “wife” try to show immigration officials that they’re a happily married couple. House also decides to name a new team leader.

TV: Week of February 19, 2012

For a holiday weekend, there are a ton of shows premiering. All of the ones listed below start tonight with the exception of Being Human which will air on Supernatural Saturdays on BBC America.

Pick of the Week

The Amazing Race is back for its 20th season. A season is really only as entertaining as the cast so I start each season hoping for some truly entertaining people. There seems to be some drama with a couple from Big Brother. I guess they are not well loved. Since I don’t watch that show, I have no idea who they are, so I guess I’ll see if I get annoyed with them as others seem to already be.
