Coherence
A group of eight friends gather for a dinner party on the night of a comet passing overhead. Things were already tense when one woman is not thrilled when one of the friends brings her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend as his date. What starts out as a low budget indie where people talk about their feelings and issues with one another suddenly turns into a scary sci-fi thriller once the lights go out in the neighborhood.
The group blames it on the comet, but then a few people go to investigate another house in the neighborhood that still has its lights on. They come back with a crazy story about doppelgängers and things just get weirder from there.
The entire movie is pretty claustrophic and creepy. It gets crazier as it goes on and I really could not guess what would happen next, which I loved. It is also filled with a bunch of no-name actors with the exception of Nicholas Brendon (Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) playing an actor from a television show that no one seems to remember that he was on.
This isn’t the best movie I have seen and it had some minor issues with it, but it was much better than I expected. I didn’t think it would live up to the trailer that made me want to watch it. This was a little movie that I don’t remember ever coming out in the theater, but I’m glad we stumbled upon it since it was pretty entertaining to watch.
