amelia

Amelia
Directed: Mira Nair
Starring: Hilary Swank, Ewan McGregor, Richard Gere, Christopher Eccleston
Trailer

Synopsis: Biopic of Amelia Earhart who was the first person to fly across the Pacific solo and disappeared while trying to be the first person to fly around the world.

My Take: While Earhart’s story sounds interesting, the movie looks dull.

9x9_rotten RT Score: 16%
RT Consensus: Amelia takes the compelling raw materials of its subject’s life and does little with them, conventionally ticking off Earhart’s accomplishments without exploring the soul of the woman.

TV Premieres: Week of April 5

Category: TV,Upcomingvelveetahead @ 8:08 pm

The writer’s strike killed Rescue Me last spring, so they held off and are now offering us a full 22-episodes instead of the usual 13 that cable shows air. Can we handle that much firefighter goodness?

Season Finales: United States of Tara, Trust Me, Life, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Friday Night Lights

Pick of the Week

rescueme

Rescue Me
Channel: FX
Time: 10/9c
Starring: Denis Leary, Adam Ferrara, Michael Lombardi, Steve Pasquale, Andrea Roth, John Scurti, Daniel Sunjata, Larenz Tate, Callie Thorne
Premieres: Tuesday, April 7
Trailer

Synopsis: Tommy doesn’t know what to make of the new guy that Janet is dating (Michael J. Fox) while the guys try to figure out how to spend the money that Mike’s mom left him.

My Take: The show got pretty dark and grim around season three, but improved greatly last season when it found the right balance of gritty realism mixed with completely messed up hilarity.
