TAR: Mmm…Sheep Fat

Amazing Race
I’m Like an Angry Cow

This leg of the race had an eating challenge. If anyone had watched the show in previous seasons and seen what the eating challenges have consisted of, they are almost always a lot of meat. I can’t remember one that didn’t have meat. If someone knew they had to eat something, why would they assume it would be vegetarian? It must be the same kind of thinking that believes barreling through the race without stopping to read clues is the way to win. It doesn’t work!

TAR: Dye Time!

Amazing Race
My Nose Is on Fire

This leg of the race included a Speed Bump for Team S&M because they were last in a non-elimination leg. In the past, the game has had nothing happen to teams that came in last in a non-elimination leg. Then they lost their bags and all their money. They only had what was on their backs after that. That was annoying since they had to beg and plead with people to give them money. It wasn’t much fun to watch.  Then, they had the teams marked for death where they had a time penalty when they checked into the pit stop. Time penalties are not very exciting to watch either. I like the extra task that they have to do because it depends more on their skills and reading clues like the rest of the race. It’s the same with the U-Turns where teams are sent back to do the other detour instead of just standing around not doing anything for a period of time when there were Yields before U-Turns.

TAR: Fire Head Lady

Amazing Race
Please Hold Me While I Singe My Skull

At this point, I have some definite favorite teams. I’m really rooting for Toni & Dallas to win. I actually like Nick & Starr, even though the divorced ladies can’t stand them. I find the divorced ladies pretty stuck up though. I have tried to like them, but they are just annoying. As much as I don’t like Team S&M or Team Emo, they make for good television so I hope they stick around for a bit to give me something to write about. I’m surprised the frat guys are in the race. They seem to make very dumb mistakes and have been second to last almost every leg. It really does seem to be Andrew and dead weight. Does Dan do anything besides whine? Has Andrew done every road block? Did they get rid of the requirement where each team member  had to do an equal number of road blocks?

Amazing Race
Do It Like a Madman

Last week I wondered how the blondes got so far behind, which ultimately led to their elimination. I found some video footage that didn’t make the show of them being stuck at a gas station forever not able to get their automatic vehicle started. When they finally asked for some help, the gas station attendant showed them that they weren’t in park. They had been sitting there forever with the car manual out trying to figure out why the car was broken. Oh boy.

Amazing Race
I Wonder If They Like Blondes in New Zealand?

The divorced ladies were all about causing more drama before this leg even began. They confronted the siblings about how they asked Aja and Ty to U-Turn them. It cracks me up that teams take it personally when another teams U-Turns them or in this case, asks someone else to do it. Starr said she tried to make it better, but the divorced ladies were having none of it. More blah blah blabbitty blah ending with divorced ladies still hating the siblings.

TAR: Wrassling!

Amazing Race
Did You Push My Sports Bra Off the Ledge?

Before the race even starts, there is drama during the pit stop. The Amazing Race used to show what happened during the pit stop, but quit doing it a few seasons back. It is back again, most likely because there are drama llamas around. One of the divorced ladies, Christy, was drying her sports bra on some ledge. Next thing, it is on the ground, but Starr (one of the siblings) was there so Christy accused her of pushing it off the ledge. Starr said she didn’t, but the divorced ladies aren’t believing that nonsense. Starr said she didn’t know what advantage that would give her, and I agree with her. What would that do? Could it be that it just fell off due to wind and gravity and Starr happened to be walking by? No! That’s unpossible!

TAR: Team S&M

Category: Recaps, TVvelveetahead @ 9:09 pm

Amazing Race
Do You Like American Candy?

Sometimes my first impressions change after the second episode. There are some people that I didn’t find annoying, but now can’t stand. There are some people that I thought were annoying, but grew on me a bit. Nothing has changed so far. I still do not like separated couple, Ken and Tina, and I don’t like Team Emo–Terence and Sarah. I think I’d be sad if Team Emo left though because they are entertaining to write about. I just don’t want them to win. While watching this episode, I was pondering a better name for Ken & Tina instead of separated couple. Since she loves to beat down on her cheating man and he just takes it since he was bad, they are now Team S&M.

The teams started out in Brazil on a floating fortress. While resting for 12 hours before they have to go on the next leg, Team Emo was getting all upset over nothing! Don’t be shocked. Mr. Emo was complaining that Ms. Emo was talking to other teams. How can she pay attention to him all day and night if she is interacting with other people? Why doesn’t she understand! He pouted and ran off while she cried in confusion.

TAR: Cry Team Emo!

Amazing Race
Bees Are Much Calmer Than All This!

The beginning of Amazing Race is never very exciting since there are so many teams and everything needs to be edited to fit in an hour. You only get to learn a little bit about the teams and I usually get some confused. This time no one was yelling at donkeys right off the bat like the first team to get booted last season. They were whiny and horrible so I was glad to see them leave. The only team that seemed like they might get annoying was the separated couple where the former football guy cheated on his wife, so she was annoyed at everything he does. I have no idea why they are together since they don’t seem to like each other very much. I was also a bit disappointed about the guys from my alma mater, Arizona State University. When I attended, so many guys were actually good looking. They do not represent the school’s population! ;) I’m from Oregon so the crazy old hippies are a little out there, but there’s a good section of Oregon that is just like them so I can’t say the same thing.

TV: Week of September 28

Category: TV, Upcomingvelveetahead @ 6:12 pm

Wow. It is hard to find trailers for show debuting this week. Where is the promotional push from the networks? It is a very sad state of affairs.

Update: I did only have Sunday up earlier, but now I have the entire week done.

Pick of the Week

The Amazing Race
Channel: CBS
Time: 8/7c
Premieres: Sunday, September 28
Starring: Phil Keoghan
Trailer

Synopsis: They will travel to new locations this 13th season, such as Cambodia and Kazakhstan. Also, one team will make a huge mistake that will keep them for making it to the finish line.

My Take: This is my favorite reality show. I love to see the destinations and the challenges are usually related to something specific about that culture. Also, the people that know each other already have the built-in mechanisms for arguing, which is fun to see heightened with lack of sleep.

CBS Fall Schedule

Category: News, TVvelveetahead @ 11:30 am

Already mentioned how CBS canceled Moonlight, but here is the full scoop on its shows for next season. They also canceled Shark, but I’m not overly sad about that one. I watched it, but it was starting to bore me. I won’t miss it.
