Jericho
Channel: CBS
Time: 10/9c
Premieres: Tue, Feb 12
Starring: Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott, Lennie James, Kenneith Mitchell, Brad Beyer, Alicia Coppola, Esai Morales, Sprauge Grayden, Michael Gaston, Shoshannah Stern, Erik Knudsen, Pamela Reed
Trailer

Synopsis: After being canceled, the show fans bombarded CBS with peanuts (from the last episode of last season), and they decided to bring it back for only seven episodes. With a shorter season, it will not have a lot of filler or character development. It will focus on the nearby town still trying to take over Jericho and a shady new government being set up in Cheyenne.

My Take: It did drag in bits during the middle of last season so it should be good with fewer episodes. I would have loved 13 episodes over just 7, but any will do! I hope it will be enough to bring it back for another season, but this might be the end of it, so I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

Why?

Big Brother 9
Channel: CBS
Time: 9/8c
Premieres: Tue, Feb 12
Starring: Julie Chen
Trailer

Synopsis: Due to the writer’s strike, CBS brought this annual summer show back for a winter edition where people sit in a house doing nothing and vote each other out.

My Take: I don’t understand the fascination with this inane show.

Movies Opening Feb 1

I watched the trailer for Strange Wilderness this morning while getting ready for work and didn’t laugh once. I think I even made a face at the tv during the scene where they just laugh at the shark’s teeth. I just watched the longer trailer after a few glasses of wine and couldn’t stop giggling at the shark teeth scene. Oh boy.

Nationwide Releases

Over Her Dead Body
Directed: Jeff Lowell
Starring: Eva Longoria Parker, Paul Rudd, Lake Bell, Lindsay Sloane, Stephen Root, Jason Biggs
Trailer

Synopsis: A psychic tells a white lie that a man’s dead fiance wants him to move on while they fall for each other, until the dead fiance starts haunting the psychic and tries to prevent her from getting together with him.

My Take: Only looks adorable because Paul Rudd is in it and he’s adorable. Beyond that, doesn’t look very funny.

RT Score: 14%
RT Consensus: Lacks the ingredients of a successful romantic comedy.
