CBS New Fall Shows

Category: TV, Upcomingvelveetahead @ 6:16 pm

I’ll continue to recap shows the week they premiere, but I thought I should still focus on the new shows that will be premiering this upcoming fall season so you can figure out if you want to add any new shows to your viewing repertoire.

CBS New Fall Shows

The Mentalist
Channel: CBS
Time: 9/8c
Premieres: Tue, Sep 23
Starring: Simon Baker, Robin Tunney
Trailer

Synopsis: A former fake tv psychic decides to become a private investigator because he has awesome observation skills.

My Take: Hmm. Sounds like Psych, but without the fabulous Shawn/Gus combo. Simon Baker has a certain charm to him that makes me want to check it out though, even if it is ripping off a show I love. In the trailer, he said, “He irks me. He’s irksome.” I found that funny.

CBS Fall Schedule

Category: News, TVvelveetahead @ 11:30 am

Already mentioned how CBS canceled Moonlight, but here is the full scoop on its shows for next season. They also canceled Shark, but I’m not overly sad about that one. I watched it, but it was starting to bore me. I won’t miss it.

CBS: Good & Bad News

Category: News, TVvelveetahead @ 8:13 pm

CBS finally announced that it canceled Moonlight. It didn’t like that it lost 13% of its audience from Ghost Whisperer, so it is gone. Even the crazy fan base that set up a blood drive to save the show didn’t work.

In better news, they did renew The New Adventures of Old Christine and How I Met Your Mother. More info on other shows after their official upfront tomorrow.

Amazing Race: Shut Up Dad!

Category: Recaps, TVvelveetahead @ 11:27 pm

Amazing Race
I’ve Become the Archie Bunker of the Home

Everyone took off from Ireland to head to Amsterdam. The goths said they love playing in the dark since it is their “favorite place to dwell.” The blondes talked about the hardships of not having a manicure or a facial. It’s only the second leg! The ministers said the smartest thing that I have heard on the race ever. They have no illusions that God cares if they win the Amazing Race.

Returning Shows

The Amazing Race
Channel: CBS
Time: 8/7c
Premieres: November 4
Trailer

My Take: I love this show! I love it when they go beyond the normal people when they cast for the show, but of course, it all comes down to their personalities. I have hopes for the pink goths kids, but I’ll pick some favorites after the first episode or two when I really get to know what everyone is like.

ABC Likes Shows + Moonlight Good News

Category: News, TVvelveetahead @ 9:29 pm

ABC has given Pushing Daisies a full season order (yeah!), while also ordering three more scripts for Carpoolers (yuck!) and six more episodes of Samantha Who? Pushing Daises has won its timeslot in adults 18-49 since it premiered. Carpoolers has kept or built on its lead in from Cavemen, which thankfully has not been asked for additional scripts, but unfortunately has not been canceled either. Samantha Who? had the most watched new series debut and kept most of its audience in its second week.

Over at CBS, four additional scripts have been ordered for Moonlight, which has moved ahead of Women’s Murder Club in that very much wanted adults 18-49 demographic.  I find the show goofy, but it is entertaining enough to watch on the computer while I’m half paying attention, doing something else.

Premiere Bits

Category: Recaps, TVvelveetahead @ 10:20 pm

Since I was hanging out with Amy and Marci in Tucson during Fall Premiere Week, I was behind on my tv watching. Here are some of the shows that aired last week, but I finally watched this weekend or this week.

Desperate Housewives

I was having fun with Edie last season, but I didn’t like the way she started out this season. She is all needy and icky. Sure, she was a bit needy last season too, but it was entertaining. She better get more entertaining with her blackmailing of Carlos and all his crazy, hidden money or I will wish she really did hang herself. And what is up with Carlos and his crazy, hidden money? Why didn’t he run off somewhere after the divorce? He couldn’t really spend the money with the whole embezzlement thing he got in trouble with before, so he would have had to run away. That would have kept him away from Gabby though, so maybe that’s why. I’m glad when I answer my own questions.
