TV: Week of January 17

Category: TV,Upcomingvelveetahead @ 8:05 pm

The Golden Globes are tonight. They are my favorite award show since the celebrities are able to eat and drink before the awards start, so that makes some acceptance speeches entertaining. They also chair hop quite a bit so you never know who will be sitting where when the camera tries to find a certain celebrity. Starting tonight, 24 will be trying to kill everyone again with too much of it with two nights of two-hour episodes. Human Target will premiere tonight before moving to its regular Wednesday night. This Friday all the broadcast networks and quite a few cable channels will have holding a telethon for Haiti.

Pick of the Week

Human Target
Channel: FOX
Time: 8/7c
Starring: Mark Valley, Chi McBride, Jackie Earle Haley
Premieres: Sunday, January 17
Trailer

Synopsis: A personal security guard puts himself in harm’s way for various clients. He doesn’t have super powers, but a bit of a  suicide wish.

My Take: I love Mark Valley and hope this is the show for him. I think it looks like a lot of fun. I also love Chi McBride, even if he plays the same character in every show.

TV: Week of June 1

Category: TV,Upcomingvelveetahead @ 7:33 pm

I believe we really had one week off between the end of the regular season of network shows (with a few of them finally ending this week) and the beginning of the summer shows. There will be even more premiering next week, but this week we have the return of Burn Notice, which seems to fit in better in the summer than when it shows episodes in the winter.

Season Finales: Medium, According to Jim, Law & Order: SVU, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, Law & Order, Make Me a Supermodel

Pick of the Week

burnnotice

Burn Notice
Channel: USA
Time: 9/8c
Starring: Jeffrey Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell, Sharon Gless, Tricia Helfer,  Seth Peterson
Premieres: Thursday, June 4
Trailer

Synopsis: Michael is free from the group that burned him, but now the police are after him.

My Take: The show is at its best when it shows us how to make weird devices with ordinary items like MacGuyer and when there is the boiling over chemistry between Michael and Fiona.

TV: Week of January 18

Category: TV,Upcomingvelveetahead @ 7:24 pm

This week, it is major premiere time for cable series, especially tonight. The only exception is Wednesday when Lost finally returns and FOX has its premiere of the Tim Roth show Lie to Me.  On Tuesday, it is pretty much Barack Obama inauguration. Every network station will be televising it except FOX and CW, which are instead showing new episodes of their usual night of shows. On Friday, on SCI-FI network, there will be the cable run of old canceled shows Invasion and Moonlight in case you never watched, but wanted to check them out.

Season Finale: Momma’s Boys

Pick of the Week

lost2

Lost
Channel: ABC
Time: 9/8c
Starring: Matthew Fox, Michael Emerson, Jorge Garcia, Elizabeth Mitchell, Evangeline Lilly, Josh Holloway, Terry O’Quinn, Naveen Andrews, Yunjin Kim, Henry Ian Cusick
Premieres: Wednesday, January 21
Trailer

Synopsis: All of those that got off the island, now want to get back on it to save those that they left behind, but the island apparently disappeared soon after they were rescued.

My Take: The show vastly improved since they decided on a final end date. I can’t wait for each new episode.
