Comic Con: Lost & Pushing Daisies

Category: Adventures, Shows, TVvelveetahead @ 12:31 pm

I forgot that I hadn’t written about the EW TV Panel that we attended on Thursday. It was full when we arrived so we got in line for the WOW panel afterwards. They let people in as they figured out there were still seats so we got in to listen to a good portion of it. We were way in the back so I just listened and didn’t take any pictures of the panel. That’s why I forgot I listened to it. The panel had the creator of The O.C., Gossip Girl, and Chuck, the creators of Lost, the creator of Pushing Daisies, and the creator of Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Lost: Where For Art Thou Claire?

Category: Recaps, TVvelveetahead @ 9:07 pm

Lost
Something Nice Back Home

I forgot that Jack’s dad was also Claire’s dad. We knew Claire didn’t make it off the island, so I thought she blew up in the previous episode, but no, and then it looks like she might have gone missing after she wandered off with Jack’s dad. Did he take Claire so she wouldn’t raise Aaron? Then he sent a message to Jack via Charlie via Hurley that he shouldn’t raise Aaron either? Why does no one want anyone related to Aaron to raise him?

Sawyer was funny telling Miles that he had a 20 foot distance between Claire and him.

Jack’s surgery was still suspenseful, even though I knew he would be okay. It was nice to see him with Kate in the future, but then he had to go all crazy. What is Kate doing for Sawyer and can he make phone calls from the island now or was that just a message sent to her from him when she was on the phone?

Still not trusting Charlotte, but still trusting Faraday a bit, even though he seems like he would do what Charlotte wanted due to his crush on her.

Lost: Other Flashback

Category: Recaps, TVvelveetahead @ 7:29 pm

Lost
The Other Woman

I giggled when Juliet referred to herself as an Other. I know the survivors called them that, but not used to them referring to themselves as an Other.

At the beginning, I thought it was a flashback, until I remembered that each episode this season has been a flash forward instead so she must have gotten off the island. Then it was a flashback! Very tricky. I laughed at Andrea Roth being her therapist on the island since she’s the bitchy ex-wife of Tommy in Rescue Me. Too bad she turned out to be bitchy here too. I guess she’s good at playing that role.

Lost: Time Traveler

Category: Recaps, TVvelveetahead @ 12:03 am

Lost
The Constant

Last week, I suspected that something was messing with Faraday’s head, and thought it might be time travel, but I didn’t think it would be due to radiation by trying to get time travel to work for many years. Interesting! I loved the part where Desmond asked about the head protection for radiation. Why isn’t there any? That’s messed up! Speaking of Faraday, I like him. I don’t really trust any of the other ones that came over from the ship, even though helicopter pilot seems okay, but he seems genuine. Of course, it could still be a trick, but he seems likeable now.

Lost: Baby Stealer

Category: Recaps, TVvelveetahead @ 1:14 pm

Lost
Eggtown

Did I miss that there was a pregnancy scare between Kate and Sawyer? I never rewatch anything so I just go off of memory, but I don’t remember anything about that. I thought I heard wrong the first time when Sawyer said that Kate was mad about the pregnancy thing. Then they mentioned it again after it became clear that they didn’t sleep together after she spent the night in Sawyer’s bed. I thought maybe she was pregnant, but just wasn’t telling Sawyer since he obviously didn’t want one. A little bit before that, Jer and I guessed that she might have taken Claire’s kid off the island as her own. Then towards the end of the episode, I thought again that it might have been Sawyer’s kid since Jack wanted to get together with Kate, but not be part of the kid’s life. At the very end, we learn that it is Claire’s son. Does Jack think the boy is Sawyer’s kid or does he not want to have anything to do with Claire’s kid? What happened to Claire? Did she die on the island or did she not get a chance to make it off and either handed Aaron to Kate who was leaving or Kate stole him? So many questions!

Strike Update

Category: News, TVvelveetahead @ 12:50 am

The writer’s strike is officially over. Some shows are going back into production for 4-6 episodes to air in April and May (mostly self-contained procedurals like CSI and comedies), while other serialized shows will be relaunched next fall. Over at TV Guide, Michael Ausiello has a chart on all shows, but here are the ones that I care about, plus a few that I know you guys like too.

TV: Week of Jan 27

Category: TV, Upcomingvelveetahead @ 8:21 pm

Lost is back! They were holding off until now so they could show the entire season in one fell swoop. Then the writer strike’s happened. We only get a few episodes of this season, but after last season’s finale, they should be good ones!

Recommended Shows

Lost
Channel: ABC
Time: 8/7c
Premieres: Thu, Jan 31
Starring: Daniel Dae Kim, Elizabeth Mitchell, Emilie de Ravin, Evengeline Lilly, Henry Ian Cusick, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, Matthew Fox, Michael Emerson, Naveen Andrews, Terry O’Quinn, Yunjin Kim
Trailer

Synopsis: The Others try to ambush the Oceanic crash survivors to kidnap the pregnant women, but Juliet has warned them so they attack the Others first. Charlie goes into the underwater Looking Glass station to flip the switch that is jamming the radio transmission so Jack can call the nearby ship from Naomi’s satellite phone. One of the Others tries to stop Charlie, but he manages to flip the switch before dying. Also, just before dying, he gets Desmond’s girlfriend Penny broadcasting to them and saying she didn’t send the boat like Naomi had claimed. He gets that message to Desmond just before dying. Locke shoots Naomi saying he doesn’t want to leave the island and takes off after Jack calls for help, but who are the people that are coming to help? Then there is the flash-forward that shows Jack and Kate off the island, but Jack saying it was mistake that they ever left. What happened? Who knows!

My Take: Even though some episodes lagged a bit, I always had faith in the show and I was pleasantly surprised at the season finale last year. I can’t wait for more! Now that the producers know when the show will end, I think there will be a lot more focus in each episode.

TV: Best of 2007

Category: TVvelveetahead @ 12:55 am

I usually like to do best-of lists after an official season ends in May, but with the crazy writer’s strike on, I might as well just pick the best of 2007 since who knows when the official season will come back (not counting mid-season replacements starting soon to fill the gap). Here is my top 10 list of shows along with some honorable mentions.

1. Dexter

After a fabulous first season, you always wonder if the second season will suffer the sophomore slump. This one didn’t. It changed gears to not just murdering someone each week, but dealing with the Miami PD (that he works for) finding all his bodies and tracking the killer. Then there was Lyla who he met at his 12-step program. I loved her. She was dark and twisted, but also a way for him to open up more and figure out what he wanted to do with his life that was in a disarray with the police investigation going on. The more the season went on, the more tension filled it became, since I had no idea how he was going to get out of the next mess he found himself in as the police and Doakes came closer to discovering the truth. The finale was completely awesome and satisfying. The only downside for the season was Dexter’s sister’s relationship with the FBI guy. She was great in the beginning of the season dealing with dating last season’s serial killer and not trusting anyone. Then it turned icky for the last part of the season. I’m glad that relationship is over now though.
