ABC has thirteen new shows debuting this fall and early next year. Where did it find the room to fit all these shows? By canceling a bunch of low performers like No Ordinary Family, Better With You, Detroit 1-8-7, Mr. Sunshine and Off the Map. A minor surprise was the cancellation of V. It had a rough start its first season, but was a bit more focused when it came back for a second season. I couldn’t get past the almost all of the show taking place against a very bad green screen. I found it so distracting, I didn’t know what was going on.

Movies Opening July 17
Two movies I want to see come out this week. The most recent Harry Potter and 500 Days of Summer. I really like Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, so I hope it is adorable and not too quirky.
Nationwide Releases
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Directed: David Yates
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Jim Broadbent
Trailer
Synopsis: The sixth in the series where Harry learns about the childhood of Voldemort while the kids all fall in love.
My Take: I have to see all the movies since I loved the book series. I’m also curious how they’ll make an action-packed movie when most of the book was spent in flashbacks.
RT Score: 84%
RT Consensus: Dark, thrilling, and occasionally quite funny, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is also visually stunning and emotionally satisfying.

TV: Week of January 11
This week is the official start of 24 since the movie in November was just to tie the last season and this current season together. For those that have DirectTV, they have already seen the season of Friday Night Lights that is now playing on NBC. It is the final season for Battlestar Galactica and soon American Idol will dominate the airwaves while I hope its ratings continue to die so it doesn’t take over so much tv every winter and spring like it has done the past few years.
