In the middle of May every year, the networks get together to show off the new shows they picked up, congratulate those that they renewed and try not to talk about the shows they canceled. This year, FOX tried to deal with the effects of ending 24 and the waning popularity of American Idol, so it tried to outshine all of that with Glee, which seems to be its most popular show currently.
What Was Canceled
I think 24 went on a few seasons too long so I think it is good that it had its series finale this year. I’m surprised that Dollhouse was renewed for a second season, but still no one watched it, so I wasn’t surprised that it was canceled either. I enjoyed it while it was on. Other FOX shows that were canceled that you might not know were even on the air: Brothers, Sit Down Shut Up, Sons of Tucson, Past Life, ‘Til Death and The Wanda Skyes Show.

Super Bowl is Sunday, in case you weren’t paying attention. Heroes will have an early finale. NBC decided to have it wrap up before the Olympics instead of continuing again in March. On DirecTV, Friday Night Lights finishes up its third season. I believe it’ll be airing on NBC spring or summer. This Friday, the Winter Olympics start. There are two shows that start this week with “survivor” in the title. One is another version of the CBS reality competition show and the other is a BBC America drama. Don’t confuse them!
Pick of the Week
Channel: BBC America
Starring: Julie Graham, Paterson Joseph, Freema Agyeman, Max Beesley, Phillip Rhys, Zoe Tapper, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Shaun Dingwall, Chahak Patel
Premieres: Saturday, February 13
Synopsis: A virus has killed most of the world’s population. A group of survivors must figure out how to live with one another and start over again.
My Take: It has a lot going on with some interesting characters. I like the actors since I have seen a good portion of them in other BBC shows.

A breakdown on what’s new, gone and changing each night of the week on FOX come Fall 2009:
FOX will keep House on Monday nights at 8pm for both the fall and spring. I really think it should have moved Dollhouse to the post-House spot, but they don’t listen to me! They decided to move Lie to Me behind it, which I also enjoy, but think Dollhouse needs more a chance to succeed than where it remains on Friday nights. Come winter, Lie to Me will be replaced by 24, which will take place in New York for its eighth season.
